

Children available for adoption include boys and girls, from infants to older children, healthy and special needs. These children reside in orphanages; once a referral is accepted, the child may be placed in foster care at adopting parent's expense. In 2010, U.S. citizens adopted approximately 9 children from Honduras.

Travel required: Both (if married) must travel to present their petition; one may make a second trip or remain in-country with the child until finalization, which can take several months.
